Jump/Ship - Red Admiral Rye IPA
Red Admiral comes in a 330ml can, has 0.5% ABV, is vegan and is low in sugar. The Scottish brewer has gone for a trio of British hops - Admiral (naturally!), Pilgrim and Jester - to mix in with the barley, rye and oats. The head is slight and on the nose it is worty and a little sweet. Tastewise Red Admiral is a nice balanced blend of fruit cake, brown sugar and nuttiness. Maybe a hint of woodiness in there too. The body is well-rounded and the carbonation is gentle. It ends on a clean hoppy note. With this finish I think I would characterise it as a modern take on a brown ale, but whatever the label, it is eminently quaffable.
