Insel-Brauerei - Swimmer's Saison
Founder Markus Berberich has created a brewery which focusses on innovation and quality. For example, the beers go through three stages of fermentation, including in the bottle, where a second yeast is added. No filtering or pasteurisation is employed and only whole hop cones are used. On the nose of this saison, there is a citrus and yeasty tang which comes through into the taste. The slightly acidic tone combines well with sweet apple and light malt. The signature character of the brewery - an effervescent, fresh and lively beer - is here in full. The carbonation is very fine meaning that it is extremely smooth to drink yet retains a "buzz", almost of a fine sparkling wine.
