Kiuchi - Hitachino Nest Non Ale
Kiuchi brewery was founded in the Japanese province of Hitachino in 1824 to brew sake. Japanese law prevented the brewery from producing beers until a change in the law allowed them to commence beer brewing in 1994. Their low alcohol Non Ale uses Pale, Munich, Crystal and Chocolate malts as well as Cascade hops. The beer pours a dark reddish-brown and briefly has a thin white topping. On the nose there isn't a great deal of beery characteristic apparent, which makes it rather unappealing. Tastewise it is somewhat malty and the body is thin. There's minimal input from the Cascade hops. Hard to recommend except to change the name from Non Ale. Or perhaps not.
