Mikkeller - Energibajer
A wheat beer, but not as we know it - not a hint of banana flavour to be had. Clearly being promoted as a healthy option, the label declares the presence of vitamins B2, B5 and B12. In the glass it creates a decent white head that leaves nice lacework as you drink. Mikkeller have their own yeast strain (Mikkellensis) and its character is apparent in Energibajer - a tart lemony background. The aromas are well to the fore - guava, pineapple and tangerine. The mouthfeel is moderate and there is just the right level of carbonation; not too gassy, not too flat. The taste is all tangy fruit with a gentle underpinning sweetness. The citrussy aftertaste gives the beer a crisp bite.
