Drop Bear - Yuzu Pale Ale
Drop Bear is based in Wales but is a Welsh-Australian venture - hence the Drop Bear name (check it out!). The yuzu is a citrus fruit originating from China. It has a strong and distinctive aroma, which as well as being used in cookery is used in fragrances and for bathing with (in Japan). As well as yuzu extract this pale ale has several malts in the recipe: Munich, DRC, caramalt, wheat malt and flaked oats. The hoppy brew is driven by Chinook, Cascade and Centennial hops. The floral aroma is highly distinctive - presumably down to the yuzu extract. It's like sweetened grapefruit perhaps. It is very fruity in taste and has a biting sharpness, especially when served very cold (as is recommended). The beer is vegan and gluten-free. Another top beer from the Swansea-based AF specialists.
