Hammerton - Crunch Peanut Butter Milk Stout
The Islington brewery already produce an alcoholic (5.4%ABV) Crunch and this is their AF (0.5% ABV) version. So it isn't a case of "may contain nuts", the recipe does actually contain peanut. There is also lactose in the beer (hence "milk stout") so it's not a vegan brew. As you pour the beer from the can it develops a lovely tawny head which clings to the glass as you sup. There's definitely a peanut aroma coming to you as you raise the glass, like you've just opened a new jar of the crunchy stuff. The taste is one of roast peanut and sweet maltiness. In fact, it is a very sweet stout and has a smooth mouthfeel with gentle carbonation. An impressive creamy brew, like drinking a Mackeson whilst enjoying a few peanut butter crackers.
