Sidebar was until recently the online AF beer and cider retailer Lowbrews, but have now morphed into a brewing company, based in Somerset. This pale ale is the first beer under that banner and comes in a 330 ml can, is 0.5 % ABV and is suitable for vegans. In the mix there is barley, wheat and oats together with Galaxy and Hull Melon (apologies for the lack of umlaut there). The hazy, frothy brew has a faint odour of lime but nothing too distinctive. But once you take a sip there is a very pleasant blend of fruits - grapefruit, melon, lime and lemon. Not much in the way of malt. There's a nice level of carbonation which means a soft mouthfeel, albeit a bit on the thin side. The finish is rather sweet. A good first effort from Sidebar, hopefully there will be more to come from the Frome brewers.
