Newtown Park / Lowtide - Promises I Made Myself

This IPA is a collaboration between Lowtide, based in Bath and Newtown Park, based in Bristol, both young kids on the block in the brewing industry. The beer contains barley, wheat amd oats whilst the hops used are Ahtanum, Idaho7, Citra and Centennial. It is suitable for vegans. The head soon dissipates after pouring, leaving a cloudy beer with a very big citrussy aroma. Then when you take a mouthful of it there is a veritable explosion of tropical fruit flavours. Write down a list of the tropical fruits you can taste and you will probably still miss out one or two. It is that full on. Perhaps the most prominent are mango, papaya and pineapple, put together in great balance and underpinned on a soft resinous base. The smooth mouthfeel leads to a refreshing and clean finish. The juicy IPA genre is probably the most crowded right now; Promises I Made Myself puts itself at the top table by switching everything on the dials to 11. (Worryingly, it appears to be a limited edition brew).
