Big Drop - Pine Trail Pale Ale
Big Drop were one of the first out of the blocks to specialise in low alcohol brewing. Their Alcohol Free (AF) beers are not an addition to a range. AF is what they do. And this pale ale is a fine example of their expertise. It has a bright, clear, very pale yellow body which supports a moderate white top. The aromas are pine (of course!) and citrus fruits in the main. The body is light and the beer has a good mouthfeel, especially compared to some other AF brews. The balance of the flavours is just about right - some bitterness but also some sweetness - a touch of mango? Indeed the aftertaste is quite sweet, held in check no doubt by all the dry-hopping.
