Smashed Pale has a rich golden colour and creates a decent white head upon pouring from the bottle. It is a 0.0% ABV beer, which has been achieved through dealcoholisation and is suitable for those following a vegan diet, but is not gluten-free. The aroma is decidedly bready and the mouthfeel is thin and gassy. The taste is of malt and not much else and the finish has a malty sweetness. The label says that a American "style" hop is used. Upon reading the ingredients for the name of this hop, it is simply listed as "hop extract." The ingredients also include unspecified "natural flavourings." In recent years the quality bar has been raised significantly for AF beers. Smashed Pale, unfortunately, is not approaching that bar.
