Lowtide - NEIPA The Cosmic Turtle
A New England IPA from Bath brewer Lowtide means a style usually characterised by haziness but this is as clear as a bell. The head soon subsides, leaving a decidedly grapefruity aroma from the Amarillo, Citra, Mosaic and El Dorado hops. The recipe also includes wheat and oats, but the beer is vegan, if not GF. Tastewise, it has a sharp citrus character, whilst the mouthfeel is thin and rather gassy. The finish is quite clipped and is of tropical fruit. The Cosmic Turtle is a simple affair and is competing in a currently very common style. Amongst that crowded market, this doesn't stand out as one to go back to.
